(Click Above To Read Inspection Report)

Inspection Performed at 2520 Bexford View, Cumming, GA 30041

  • Multiple code violations and hazardous installations
  • Work to be redone due to poor practice and installation methods
  • Items on invoice are incomplete, not done at all, so badly installed they must be redone to meet code and safety issues

  • ul listed and rated device boxes penetrated with drywall screws through side voids warranty, voids 2 hour fire rating and ul listing
  • Box fill - junction boxes have a cubic inch box fill many are over filled causing risk of fire
  • Wiring is nearly impossible to identify what its intended use was due to sloppy installation practices
  • Rated device boxes may have no more than 1/8" recess, multiple locations have 1/4" and larger gap
  • Wiring must be installed inside rated junction box for splicing purposes, multiple locations of wires spliced in open attic in direct contact with flammable materials
  • Bathroom outlets must be installed on a dedicated line either for that bathroom specifically or a shared circuit only intended for the bathroom outlets
  • Downsized conductors, multiple locations wiring was originally 12 gauge and has been extended using 14 gauge which is a fire hazard.
  • Romex or non metallic cable must be protected where exposed to physical damage, multiple locations it is not protected

This was a courtesy inspection at the request of the homeowner who was concerned about the safety of the home. The following violations were found:

  1. Several devices were dangling by wires and were energized in violation of the National Electrical Code Section 110.27
  2. Cover plates were missing from nearly every box. Several boxes contained energized terminals also in violation of 110.27
  3. A junction box in the attic area contained a number of wires in excess of the maximum permitted by the size of the box in violation of section 314.16
  4. A box containing an energized receptacle located in the master closet was recessed in the wall with wood paneling surrounding the opening in violation of 110.27 and 314.20

I recommended that the homeowner have these violations corrected immediately by a licensed electrician.

We had purchased a new washer and dryer from Lowe's.

Upon delivery, the installers were unable to hook-up our

dryer since a cooktop outlet was used instead of a dryer outlet!!!
